Step 5 has an error in it. There is no MODI in Office 2010. You will have to install the component from the Office 2007 install media (and people have reported it’s not a seamless fix) or a third party app. I cannot understand why MS removed this vital functionality from Office 2010.

@Dan_Linder: I don’t know much about all this stuff, but trying to fix a problem with my Scangear tool y bumped into this blog. We don’t use Microsoft Office or any Microsoft product for that matter in our office. We use the Scangear tool and Softi scan to PDF. You can download it online, just google it and it will pop up. You get a 30 day trial and then you do have to pay something, don’t remember how much.

@Dan_Linder: That is a good question lol. I always have Microsoft Office installed so I have never encountered that problem. Yes, I unfortunately don’t know a way for that network scanning tool to work without the document imaging program. It is installed with Microsoft Office 2007. Thanks for the notes – do you know how to access the Network ScanGear scanner interface if I do not have the MS Office Document Scanning tool? I’ve tried adding the scanner under the Windows 7 interface but it wants a .INF file that the driver package doesn’t seem to have.
